Once, I reached the devastated place of Malin in Maharashtra, where
landslide had wiped off a village, a civilization of about 350 people. I
couldn’t write with much pressure, as I saw people being drawn out of heaps of
rubble and devastated houses. The torn hopes and disappointed faces were staring
at all of us, strangers. My energy was draining out and my hand was still
holding a pen moving on the paper. That day I realised how much a pen helps a
journalist. We can compromise on many things, but our pen is the only thing
that stays with us for the longest period. We journalists are actually very
choosy about which pen we use, because it’s for daily use and it should be
utmost comfortable.
In this world of computers and printers, I think journalists make use of pens the most, after the students. Thankfully enough, gone are the days when we had just one type of ball pen to pick at the stationary shop. We now have the option of picking from ample types of pens available in the market. Well, I like Lexi V8 and Lexi 5n the most, of all the semi ball pens that I have used. These pens help me in writing in a sleek way with smaller tip sizes of 0.7 mm and 0.8 mm. In addition to this, as a journalist, I always need to write as fast as possible. I have been using the Lexi pens for over five years and I have actually got very comfortable with the pens and the grip. I need to write while walking, talking and sometimes while sipping tea too. The grip is a crucial part of the work I do with my pen. Lexi is what makes my word stronger and my pen mightier.
